Who hasn’t chased a blinking firefly on a warm summer night? Inspiring poets and scientists and the childlike wonder in all of us, some would argue it is our most beloved insect. Created by local artist Tom Flynn these sculptures have captured the whimsy of the lightning bug in his creative production of found object metal art. Tom has been doing found object metal art for the last 15 years. 6) fireflies sculptures are installed around the building. The 1st is on the stone wall, left side entering the building from the parking lot. The 2nd and 3rd are in the garden plaza area on the right side of the building. The 3 remaining fire flies are installed along the large expanse of windows on the back side of the building and can be viewed from the children’s area of the library. They each have a yellow bulb that will light up at dusk and stay lit until dawn.
