Marilyn Monroe

by Larry Pogue
ARTIST STATEMENT
Marilyn read her horoscope every day so the top of the sculpture is symbolic of the Sun and Moon from where the horoscopes are derived. Another aspect of Marilyn was her beautiful blonde hair which had a flip and a curl on the right side. You can then see her outstretched arm with a circle at the end to symbolize the many wedding rings she had accumulated during her short time on this earth. There is a partial circle below the mid section, which stands for the world of popularity she had. Last is the iconic dress which is on the bottom, blowing, as you have seen in many photos.
